Jessica Long seizes Women’s 400m freestyle gold – 2012 Paralympic Games
Jessica Long of USA seized gold medal of the Women’s 400m freestyle in S8 category on day two of the swimming events at the 2012 London Paralympic Games in Aquatics Centre on Friday, August 31.
The American swimmer made her fans happier by capturing gold medal of the 400m discipline in a world record time. With her phenomenal efforts, she remained in a significant lead over her opponents from the start and paved her way to the wall for gold medal.
She demonstrated her astonishing efforts in the race and clinched gold medal of the event by producing a time of 4 minutes and 42.28 seconds.
She was followed by Heather Frederiksen of Great Britain, who remained nearly 18 seconds slower and touched the wall for second position by producing a time of 5 minutes and 00.50 seconds.
The second position holder was traced by Maddison Elliott of Australia, who suffered a deficit of almost nine seconds from her preceding swimmer and hit the wall for bronze medal with an effort of 5 minutes and 09.36 seconds.
Subsequently, the bronze medallist was followed by Morgan Bird of Canada, who remained nine seconds slower from upsetting her foregoing finisher and settled on the wall as fourth fastest finisher by clocking a time of 5 minutes and 18.35 seconds.
The Canadian swimmer was trailed by Brickelle Bro of USA, who stayed nearly two seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and settled on the wall as fifth fastest swimmer by posting a time of 5 minutes and 20.42 seconds.
Sixth fastest spot of the race was obtained by McKenzie Coan of USA, who stayed 0.15 seconds slower from her former finisher and tapped the wall with an effort of 5 minutes and 20.57 seconds.
Coan was traced by Julia Kabus of Germany, who suffered a loss of only one body length from her preceding swimmer and clocked an effort of 5 minutes and 21.46 seconds.
Kabus was followed by Romy Pansters of Netherlands, who finished eighth by clocking a time of 5 minutes and 30.71 seconds.
Furthermore, Long expressed happiness over her victory after the race.
