Jessica Shepley ready to put her skills to the test at Waterloo
Canadian Jessica Shepley mostly plays on the Future Tour, but she is now gearing up to put her skills to the test at the Manulife Financial LPGA Classic 2012, scheduled to be played from June 21-24, at Waterloo,
Canada.
Shepley is one of the rising Canadian players who are confirmed to play in the prestigious tournament. However, analysts said that she is ready to prove her worth at Waterloo by scoring well.
The Canadian star boasts a good profile thanks to a victory at The International at Concord, a Future Tour event, in July 2011. Although she has not been able to prove her mettle on the LPGA (Ladies Professional
Golf Association) Tour as far, she has now decided to start a promising career.
The LPGA tournaments may prove tough for the Canadian prodigy, but she has proved in some of the Future Tour events that she is resilient and hard to beat.
Analysts said that the professional golfer may face difficulty recording a big score because of the strong field featuring LPGA giants like Suzann Pettersen, Stacy Lewis from the United States, Ai Miyazato,
Lexi Thompson, Swedish Caroline Hedwall, Sandra Gal, Inbee Park, Katherine Hull of Australia and Angela Stanford.
Despite a fearsome field, the 29-year-old Ontario native is eager to grab the first LPGA victory of her career. Golf commentators said that winning the prestigious tournament may be difficult for the rising
star, but she will try to post a good score in the first two rounds.
Other prominent Canadian contenders include Lorie Kane, Alena Sharp and Jennifer Kirby.
Speaking to the media about her plans for the event at her home course, Lorie Kane said that she is extremely happy to find an opportunity to play in front of Canadian spectators. She said that she is aware
of the tough field, but will try to do her best to cheer her fans.
On the other hand, Alena Sharp was also determined to prove her mettle at Waterloo. Sharp said that she likes the course, which is sure to help her post a good score.
“I played the course last year in August and I must say that it's in great shape. It looks like no one's played the greens, there's hardly any ball marks on the greens, so they're a little firm, so you have
to hit high shots in,” Sharp shared.
