Jet Away to conquer the 32Red Festival Stakes (Listed Race) at Goodwood
Goodwood will host the Class 1 32Red Festival Stakes (Listed Race) over a mile, a furlong and one ninety-two yards on Saturday, 26th May. Competing for the £19,849 prize money is a line-up of eight four-year and older runners.
There are only two entries for today’s race who have actually raced at the venue before but only Jet Away, Cape Cross’ five-year-old bay horse out of mare, Kalima, had something presentable to display after the race.
He was the 4/6 favourite runner up of the Southern Daily Echo Tapster Stakes (Listed Race) on 21st May at Goodwood over a mile and four furlongs. The race was won by Passion For Gold who led the field of five by two and a half lengths.
Coming at terms with the third position after the winner was Steele Tango.
He then won the Garbutt & Elliott Conditions Stakes on 7th October at York over a mile and two and a half furlong. The 9/4 favourite won the race by an amazing nine lengths.
Finishing the closest was Rasmy while taking up the third slot was Treasury Devil.
The five-year-old has raced during the new season just once and that too has been translated into a win.
Jet Away won the Ripon Silver Bowl Conditions Stakes on 19th April at Ripon over a mile and two furlongs. The evening’s favourite took charge of the final one and a half lengths with New Hampshire settling as the runner up.
It has been a while since Jet Away raced at Goodwood and is now getting a second chance to notch up the second score gained there into a win. He is in complete form to throw in a pair of victories by winning the race today.
Another entry who has claimed the seasonal debut is Retrieve, Rahy’s five-year-old bay colt out of mare, Hold To Ransom. He was successful in the Weatherbys Bloodstock Insurance Conditions Stakes on 12th May at Lingfield over a mile and two furlongs.
With Frankie Dettori riding, Retrieve took charge of the final four lengths and set Circumvent into the runner up’s slot. The 3/1 favourite of the race, Cai Shen, ended third on the field of seven.
