Question:

Jet Boat Engine Problem...?

I could use some advise on a jet boat engine problem. I was going along at 40 mph, when the left engine tacked out at 8000 rpm. I quickly shut the engine down and then restarted the engine. It seemed to lack propoltion. It also idled at 3000-3500 rpm instead of the normal 1500 rpm. What do you think this could be? Could it be an impeller? Help? Thank you - Mitchell.

  1. Sounds like a broken shaft, I'd look at the coupling between the flywheel and the jet drive  see if both are turning.  If so it's in the jet drive.  Of course I wouldn't expect the idle to be that high even if it's broke.  Check your linkages to male sure they are operating correctly.
