Jets’ Mark Sanchez does not require surgery on shoulder
New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez will not require surgery on his shoulder. His doctors have told him that that rest and rehabilitation will get him back to shape in no time and ready for next season.
Sanchez sustained an injury to his right shoulder in the Jets’ victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers on 19 December, 2010. He was able to shake it off and his shoulder did not bother him when they played against the Steelers in the American Football Conference
(AFC) Championship Game later in the season. The Steelers will be facing off against the Green Bay Packers in Sunday’s Super Bowl XLV, since the Jets lost to them in the title game.
After having surgery on his knee last year, Sanchez was relieved that he wouldn’t have to have his second surgery in two years. He said that a second Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan after the championship game showed that his bruising and swelling
had gotten well enough to avoid a surgical procedure.
"They were just really pleased with the way things healed," Sanchez said before a promotional appearance in the Dallas-Fort Worth suburb of Grapevine.
The second year player said that he will be exercising just as he did during the season to keep playing. He has consulted with team physician Dr. Kenneth Montgomery and said that he will seek his medical advice again before the expiration of the Collective
Bargaining Agreement on the third of March. Dr. Montgomery has taken into consideration the opinions of several other doctors and given Sanchez the thumbs up to play. Sanchez said that he will soon be throwing again.
Sanchez had a great playoff performance, throwing only one interception for five touchdowns and 616 yards of passing. He had a 95.5 passer rating. The Jets have had a good two years with Sanchez. They made it to the conference final this year and were also
contenders last year. They were able to edge out the Indianapolis Colts and Packers in last year’s playoff run but again failed to get to the Super Bowl. This year may bring better results.
