Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis is out for week three
New York Jets All-Pro cornerback, Darrelle Revis will not play on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins, coach Rex Ryan announced. "He [Revis] will not travel with us," Ryan said Wednesday. "He is doing about
12 hours of treatment a day. He's itching to get out there, but we don't want to risk it by putting him out there."
Revis had an MRI exam on Monday and acknowledged that he would most likely be out for a week. No immediate timetable has been given for his return, but it doesn’t look like he will miss more than two weeks.
Revis injured his left hamstring last week against the New England Patriots. Revis got burnt for a touchdown pass after Patriots’ receiver Randy Moss made a spectacular one-handed grab over him and the
Jets’ shut-down corner left the game and did not return.
"It felt good pre-game and during the game," Revis said. "I was running around with Randy [Moss] the whole time. It wasn't until he scored, that's when I pulled up a little bit."
Much was made about Revis matching up against Moss — not because they are arguably the best in their respective positions, but because Revis had a few choice words for New England’s wideout.
Revis and the Jets did a lot of talking in HBO's "Hard Knocks" this summer but New York’s key defender went one step further calling Moss a “slouch” prior to last week’s game.
"I called him a slouch because I felt he played like a slouch," Revis said on Wednesday at in Florham Park, NJ. Revis wasn't on the Jets' practice field on Wednesday as most of his time is spent rehabilitating
his injury. He will rest his hamstring and try to return to practice next week depending on how he feels and if he can withstand the pain.
