Jets defensive tackle Jenkins out for year
After digesting a tough loss at home to the Baltimore Ravens, the New York Jets received some more damaging news on Tuesday.

Defensive tackle Kris Jenkins will miss the rest of the season after suffering his third torn ACL on Monday night against the Ravens.
Jenkins had an MRI on his knee, and Jets coach Rex Ryan confirmed the news on Tuesday at a press conference.
“It's a huge blow for us,” Ryan said. “I feel really bad for Kris. I think he'll battle through this, but it's a big loss.”
Jenkins tore his left ACL when he went to tackle Le'Ron McClain and was caught in a pileup in the 10-9 loss. Jenkins grabbed his knee in pain as the surrounding players cleared the way for the medical staff to attend to him.
“Morale is that we lost a heck of a football player,” Ryan said. “We did overcome it last year, our guys did rally around the guys who where out there. It's about the unit, it's not just about the individual. We just have to step up. We have to find a way to overcome it, just like we did last year.”
Behind Jenkins on the depth chart is unproven rookie Matt Kroul from Iowa. The Jets have been playing Sione Pouha at defensive end, but the massive nose tackle could slide over to replace Jenkins. Pouha had two fumble recoveries and seven tackles in the game.
Last season Jenkins tore the same ligament against the Buffalo Bills in week six.
A ten-year veteran and four-time Pro Bowl participant, Jenkins is in his third season with the Jets.
He spent seven seasons with the Carolina Panthers after a stellar career at the University of Maryland.
Jenkins was selected in the second round of the 2001 NFL Draft.
