Jetski and boat question?

i am looking to buy a jetski this spring. any suggestions. i want a fast one. also we just purchases a searay sundancer 310, any opinions on that boat?

I have a good friend with this same boat and his family loves it.  SeaRay makes an excellent boat and with the right engine this will be enjoyable and fun to own.

I sold and ride many jet skis.  Most ridden lately are Yamaha with the 170 HP motors and these are nice units with a lot of power.  Now if you need speed, the SeaDoo 215 HP (Caution: dangerously fast) or the 185 HP SC (Super Charger).  Both Yamaha and SeaDoo build with safety and security in mind.  Their wider hulls make them almost impossible to "flip".  SeaDoo also has the largest fuel tank (15 gal.).  Maintenance is minimal on both.

A few pointers:  SeaDoos are salt water ready from the factory.  Yamaha has conversion kits, installed, approx $650.  Basically it is the exhaust changing from steel to stainless eliminating corrosion and rust.  Secondly, when you purchase you will normally receive one key.  Negotiate another before you sign because these are programmed to your unit and the fee for an extra is approx. $40.  Thirdly, due to dealer insurance I seriously doubt you can "test" ride.  I can assure you with Yamaha or SeaDoo you will not experience any problems.

A previous answer mentioned Polaris.  Polaris Watercraft filed bankruptcy end of 2006.  Good units with plenty of techs to service, so you may be able to pick up a deal.  Look at Honda as well although I know no one that has one because they are recent to the market.  

Jet skis are a BLAST!  As you ride through "heavy wake" insure you have a tight, good hold on the unit and the jet ski will glide over.  You must understand rules and regulations pertaining to jet skis because in Georgia they differ somewhat than boats.  RIDE DEFENSIVELY because a larger boat may not see you.
