Jetski issue.....?

So I have a 2000 Sea Doo GTX that I've had since new and last summer, my brother got in a wreck with it and flooded the engine. Now it's going to cost $2300 to replace the engine. Would I bet better off buying a new jet ski or buying a new engine? The suggested KBB value of the jetski is $3325.

  1. get a rebuild kit for the engine, or go performance, it may be cheaper to go performance and have the work done in stead of buying a new motor.  you don't need a new motor just a few key components, but the motor will be torn down to get to them, so you mind as well upgrade a few things.  good luck.

  2. Get another opinion. Boy they saw you coming. I work on them all the time & you do not need a new engine.

  3. Go to www.sbtontheweb.com.  Short block technologies sells rebuild engines for much cheaper than a dealer, with a no fault warranty.

Put it in yourself.  I've done dozens, it takes 5 or 6 hours total.
