Jevon Gaskin topples Serafin Zayas in Men’s Singles clash at XXI Pan Am Junior 2012
Jevon Gaskin, an upcoming shuttler from Barbados, lived up to the expectations as he played impressive badminton in his Men’s Singles battle against Argentina’s Serafin Zayas and toppled him in a spectacular fashion at the XXI Pan Am Junior 2012 in Canada,
on Tuesday, July 24.
The aggressive Jevon, who has been cheering his fans by playing tremendous badminton throughout the event, showed an aggressive performance on court and easily registered a sensational victory over Serafin without facing any considerable interruption.
Jevon was one class above his opponent on court as he played with precision and took the first game with a staggering margin. He remained positive in the following set and took it in a dominating manner to crush his rival in just 18 minutes.
On the other hand, Serafin could not play positive badminton and lost the first set without showing his class. However, he played well in opening half of second set but failed to remain consistent and lost the match to Jevon in straight sets with a comfortable
difference on score board.
In the first game, Jevon was the one who showing urgency in getting a strong position on score board as he took a spectacular lead of 11-3 until the mid-game interval.
After the one-minute break, Jevon continued showing his flawless play without facing any tough resistance.
The in-form Jevon was in complete control of rallies and he pushed his rival in all areas of the court to take the opening set with a stunning 21-7 score on the board.
In the second game, Serafin also put up good resistance in opening half as he played better badminton this time and also managed a wonderful lead of 8-3 on score board.
At this stage, Jevon changed his tactics and played with aggression to make the score levelled at 8-8. Until the break, both players were close on score board.
After the break, Jevon increased his speed and did not spare any chance for his opponent to put up strong resistance. He easily won the second game with a huge 21-14 score on the board.
The in-form Jevon won this Men’s Singles showdown in a dominating manner with a huge margin of 21-7 and 21-14.
