Jeweler's Mutual Insurance Company?

Our car insurance company will not insure my engagement ring because it was appraised for over 17,500 (ridiculous, right?!) So we are searching for an outside insurance agent for jewelry. What are your experience with JMIC? Any other companies you can suggest? Thanks!

  1. Try Chubb Group of Insurance companies... www.chubb.com, or ask your independent agent. They may be a bit more money, but are known for very fair claims handling.

  2. Welll....first of all, NO CAR INSURANCE company will insure your ring as it is NOT a car, silly!!

You need to find someone that will add it to your HOME insurance.  If you do not OWN a home, you can normally find renter's insurance.  Since it is worth so much, you might as your agent about a "scheduled jewelry floater."

Haven't heard of JMI but you should be able to GOOGLE them to see what their standings are.  Check with AMBEST.com for insurance company ratings.

Good luck and I hope this helps!
