  1. Thats a VERY good question, however, not an easy one to answer.
    I think a lot of it is ok, but weather it is a good value is another story.

    There is no way for a person to have it valued before you buy it. If they have a return policy, you may have time to take the piece to a jewelry appraiser and have it valued or appraised. Of course the best place would be a gia lab.

    Now here is the real sticker. It all comes down to weather you like it and what your willing to pay.

    The best advise is this, make sure that they give you a receipt that states carat size of stone or stones, karat if jewelry in gold, or the amount of platinum in that type of metal. Also you will want the info on treatments to the stone, depending on type of stone they could be irradiated, filled, heated, colored, they must by law
    give you that information. At least in US and Canada they have to.

    One of their favorite answers is "yes that is all on the receipt." And most times when you get the receipt the information is not there.

    Make sure you know and understand their return policy before you buy.
