what are the important Jewish holidays and Traditions? What is the meaning and some of the symbols behind these holidays and traditions?

  1. Rosh Hashana - the first day of the year - which is a holiday when god judges us all for the new year.

    Yom Kippure - 10 days afte Rosh Hashana - a fast day when god makes the final desision about our life in the next year.

    Sukkot - a 7 day holiday which is about 5 days after Yom Kippur - the jews build a temporrary 'house' and live in it for that week.

    Simchat Tora - day after Sukkot ends - jews celebrate The joy of having the "Torah"

    Chanukka - a 8 days holdiday. on first day you light one candel, next day 2 etc.

    Purim - holiday you dress up in cosums and drink ets

    Passowever - 7 days you don't eat bread - only matza and special food

    Shavut - holiday of day we got the Torah

    There is of course deeper reason for each holiday
