Question:

Jewish engagement, what should I wear?????

Ok, so I've been invited to my friend's engagement party ... The problem is that he is Jewish and I am not :) So I have no idea what kind of show it will be...I already know I will make an idiot of myself , anyway I would like to know what to expect, what to wear ( new look or debenhams) and whether they will provide something to eat for the audience or not??? lol

Btw, I cant ask my friend these quesion for many reasons, so please help

  1. Ask your friend if it will be casual or formal. If it's formal you need to wear a suit. If it's casual, just wear something good. If you are worried about the little hat thing Jewish guys wear, sometimes they have spare ones to give guys who are not Jewish. But also, some Jewish people don't even wear that every time. It will be just like any other engagement party, lots of old aunties and uncles, family members and probably a lot of food. Just go with the flow, your friend has invited you because he wants you to share his happy event, he will make sure you feel welcome. Be nice to the older ladies, compliment the girl's dad on how lucky your friend is to be engaged to her and have fun.


  2. I am sure a polite question as to what the dress code is would not offend.  I think Debenhams probably more classic style.  I think you could expect a buffet at least. Does the venue not give any inclination as to the food, i.e. a restaurant and then most likely a full meal.
