  4. Hi Mark,

I like their music and their food.  I like their interesting history.

It is true that they voted against the state of Israel in 1947, but their vote did not affect the outcome so it really does not matter.

Because of their choice to vote against the establishment of the state of Israel, I will not visit Greece.  I do not like to be where I will personally feel uncomfortable.

We have Jewish Greeks living in Israel and I enjoy Greek food and music thanks to them.

    Sincerely,

    Ms. Miche ; })

  5. Actually I am Christian and I like the Greek people I've met, and I truly appreciate the Greek contribution to culture, philosophy, and Christianity.  But I have one concern, a tendency I noticed about 40 years ago when I visited....  I was a college student, traveling during school break with a Jewish friend.  I respected his Judaism but became annoyed when I noticed he was pretending to be a Christian. to some Greeks we had gotten friendly with.  So I mentioned that he was Jewish.  This created a moment of shock.  "But why?" one of the Greeks asked.  He said nothing, so I replied, "Well, I think he was born that way..."    After a moment the Greeks overcame their shock and became friendly again.  They were good people.  But now I understood why he didn't admit he was Jewish, and I saw something in the Greek culture that troubled me; prejudice.  And I also saw something that reassured me: decency and reason.  Like I said, that was 40 years ago.

  6. Too uptight.
