Jezki all set for the closing races of the season
Before taking on to the farewell race of the season, the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle, the Jessica Harrington trained, Jezki, is highly likely to be the part of the line-up of the Deloitte Novice Hurdle at Leopardstown on 9th February. Milan’s five-year-old bay gelding was nothing less than impressive in the last four outings. Staying aligned with the expectations of the connections, he is now being recognised as the leading two-mile hurdler in Ireland.
The unprecedented success in the recent outings has brought Jezki down to 5 to 1 odds for the 2013 Cheltenham Festival.
The five-year-old cleared his maiden almost effortlessly on 29th October, 2012 in the O’Callaghan Hotels Supporting Kildare Gaa Maiden Hurdle at Naas race course over two miles.
The Mrs. John Harrington trained then landed the Grade 3 Fishery Lane Hurdle on 10th November, 2012 once again at Naas race course over two miles.
The last two victories are the most significant because both were Grade1 events.
He secured the Grade 1 Bar One Racing Royal Bond Novice Hurdle on 2nd December, 2012 at Fairyhouse over two miles.
Cementing his domination in the concluding races of the season was the Grade 1 Paddy Power Future Champions Novice Hurdle on 27th December, 2012 at Leopardstown over two miles.
"Cheltenham is the plan and we need to get him there in one piece. He will probably take in the Deloitte Novice Hurdle on his way there. His future definitely looks bright," said Harrington.
"To say we are all delighted with Jezki's performance in the Grade 1 Paddy Power Future Champions Novice Hurdle would be an understatement - I was absolutely thrilled," added Harrington.
"He won more impressively than he did in Fairyhouse and he never even came off the bridle. Probably the slightly better ground helped him and he just loves going left-handed, he's definitely better left-handed.”
"They went a right good gallop, which was brilliant."
He has been extra ordinary since a while now and has yet again got the chance to prove himself. There can be no better way of signing off from the season than adding some more credentials on the profile.
