Jharkhand v Assam – http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kumar-Shri-Ranjitsinhji-c71870 Trophy (Group C) – Match Update
Jamaluddin Syed Mohammad and Arlen Konwar played a crucial role in preventing Jharkhand from executing a successful chase on the final day of their Group C match in the ongoing Ranji Trophy, with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Assam-c765 going on to claim a 53-run win during the first-class
match played from November 9 to 12, at the Keenan Stadium in Jamshedpur.
Jharkhand won the toss on the first day of play, and chose to field first. Sunny Gupta (30-11-56-4) and Shahbaz Nadeem (32.1-10-65-4) then proceeded to launch a fierce attack which saw Assam bowled for a low total on the first day of play. Hokaito Zhimomi
(48), Gokul Sharma (37), and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tarjinder-Singh-c92849 (37) were the most prominent batsmen, while the rest did not make it past 20, or failed to progress beyond single figures altogether. Assam were eventually all out for a meagre 179.
However, the team made up for it with their bowling performance, and Konwar (26.1-7-67-6), aided by Abu Nechim (17-3-44-2) and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jharkhand-c800 down to a low first innings total. Rameez Nemat (53) remained
the top-scorer for his side, and while http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Deepak-Chougule-c1356 (22) all managed to get starts, they were unable to convert them into anything substantial. On the second day, Jharkhand were bowled for 174.
Assam’s second innings was marginally better than their first, with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Abu-Nechim-c909 (26) and Pallavkumar Das (20) registering
notable performances. Once again, Jharkhand’s Sunny Gupta (26-6-69-3) and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahbaz-Nadeem-c89339 (31-4-83-4) were the danger-men – however, Assam managed to reach 207 before they were all out on the third day.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rameez-Nemat-c2276 (42) was once again the highest scorer for his
side, but as before, he failed to find support from the rest of the batting order. Assam managed to bowl them out for 159 on the final day, and went on to clinch a 53-run victory.
