  1. Jack is a little too fast for John L Sullivan.  Sullivan is strong and probably would hold his own, but the speed and power of Dempsey would be too overwhelming.  Dempsey by 8th round technical knockout over the Boston Strong Boy.

  2. wat????

    p.s. Slipknot ROCKS!!!

  3. Almost ANY version of Dempsey would beat the best of John L.  He was great for his time but boxing probably evolved more from John L's time to Dempsey than it did from Dempsey to now.

Dempsey was no defensive wizard but he Did have the thought in mind to NOT get hit.  He just lacked the ability to perfect it and the style to be bothered with it against certain opponents.  He did have some concern there or he would never have bothered with the bob n weave style he perfected.

IT would take Dempsey a while to chissle John L down and he would likely take a knockdown in the process, maybe two.  For most of the fight it would be target practice for Dempsey.  I can see him landing 3-4 punch combinations, even though he wasn't the best of combo punchers, how can you NOT be against John L?

John L would take a lot of punishment and dish out his own.  He was tough but, in this case, too tough for his own good.  He never faced anyone with Dempsey's ability.  Slugging it out with your beer bellied contemporaries is one thing.  Getting hit 3-4 times to your one, including the punches you miss, is another thing.

Sullivan would not be able to stop Dempsey's rush.  He is ill prepared to even make the attempt.  It's just a matter of time.
