Ji Hyun Sung thrashes Sayaka Sato in semi-final showdown at Uber Cup Finals 2012
Korea’s Ji Hyun Sung earned a precious point for her country as she thrashed Japan’s Sayaka Sato in Women’s Singles clash at the semi-final stage in Uber Cup 2012 at Wuhan, China, on Thursday, May 24.
The in-form Korean was impressive in the court as she played on a different level and easily registered a sensational victory over her lower ranked Japanese opponent.
Ji Hyun was flawless in her shot selection and did not let her rival to dominate the pace at any stage and eventually won the match in straight sets by consuming just 36 minutes.
On the other hand, the lower ranked Japanese shuttler tried to live up to expectations by giving a good fight in the opening set but failed to maintain her aggressive play and lost the match without taking any game.
In the first game, both shuttlers played at the same pace and remained close until 4-4 when the Korean geared up her speed and took a remarkable lead until the break as she reached at 11-8.
After the break, Sayaka geared up her speed and played dominating badminton which helped her to catch up the score at 11-11.
However, the Korean put in extra effort at this stage and again took a wonderful lead. She remained focused this time and won the set with a wonderful score of 21-15.
In the second game, the Korean lady was everywhere in the court as she played with tremendous control in her shots.
In the meanwhile, the Japanese failed to match the speed of rallies and remained struggling in the court.
The score reached at 11-3 until the mid game interval in the second set.
After the break, the in-form Korean continued putting up wonderful show and remained in full control of the pace of rallies.
Ji Hyun was on a different level and did not let her Japanese opponent to take control of rallies at any stage. She eventually won the second set easily with a superb 21-10 score on the board.
The in-form Ji Hyun proved her worth by ending this Women’s Singles contest in two games with a margin of 21-15 and 21-10.
