China’s Mixed Double experts Jiaming Tao and Huan Xia continued enjoying their form in pre quarter-finals of Djarum Indonesia Open and cast out Diju V-Jwala Gutta on June 14, 2012.
This second round fight lasted for three exhausting sets and was resolved with 13-21, 21-14 and 18-21.
Both teams pushed each other in all areas of court and kept the audience glued to their chairs for 41 minutes.
World Number 35 Chinese pair prevailed in opening and closing segment of the show and setup a quarter-final clash with higher ranked compatriots Xu Chen-Ma Jin.
Jiaming Tao and Huan Xia opened their marathon by clinching first match point straight away. They played flawless badminton and kept their rivals under control in major part of the opening game.
In first half of the set, they got into commanding position by reaching at 6-3 in no time and then relished full benefits of this immediate advantage.
They kept on stepping forward without any interruption and placed a decent margin of 11-7 before the interval.
After mid-game break, they lost focus for short period of time and the opposing team managed to raise their total to 11 by gathering four consecutive points.
The Chinese campaigners reinstated their dominance with a strong reply and wrapped first segment of the show by registering 21-13 score on the board.
This first set loss alarmed the Indians and they stormed back into match in very next game. The twosome of Jwala and Diju V made their intentions clear by snatching first four points without any interruption.
World Number 14 pair did not drop its pace and finished first half with 11-7 margin. They dictated the opponents in later part of the game also and their seven point lead in concluding figure of 21-14 was proof of their authority.
However, things went against them in the decider as they committed some unforced errors which cost them a crucial match.
Initially, both contenders remained toe-to-toe and this race lasted until 16-16 but Jiaming Tao and Huan Xia switched on the best at this critical stage and sealed a splendid win with decisive figure of 21-18.
