Jiang Yanjiao slays Eriko Hirose Women’s Singles round-of-16 at Li Ning China Masters Super Series
China’s talented shuttler Jiang Yanjiao proved her mettle on court and stormed into Women’s Singles quarter-final after defeating Eriko Hirose of Japan in round-of-16 showdown at the Li Ning China Masters Super Series 2012 in China, on Thursday, September
13.
The fourth seeded Yanjiao, who is currently placed at number nine in Women’s Singles world ranking, proved too strong on court for her lower ranked Japanese rival and registered a spectacular victory in a commanding manner.
Chinese shuttler was at her best in front of her home crowd as she played remarkable badminton in pre-quarter-final clash and ended it in just 39 minutes with a completely one-sided score on the board.
In the meanwhile, the un-seeded Eriko failed to remain consistent on court as she could not prove her worth against her in-form Chinese rival and crashed out without securing any set.
Yanjiao started her journey in the opening set in a dominating fashion as she played in a controlled and aggressive way and took an early lead without putting in extra effort.
Eriko, on the other hand, failed to put up strong show as she could not create gaps in her rival’s court and also remained struggling to finish the rallies in an effective manner.
The higher ranked Chinese shuttler was ahead on score board until the one-minute break.
After the interval, Yanjiao continued punishing her rival by keeping the pace of rallies quite high and eventually grabbed the opening set in a lopsided way with a spectacular 21-12 score on the board.
In the second game, Yanjiao again showed urgency in setting up a stunning lead on score board as she played with impressive precision and manipulated all loopholes of her rival in an effective way.
Yanjiao was at her best in the opening half and remained ahead on score board until the mid-game interval.
After the break, Yanjiao continued playing in the similar fashion without showing any mercy to her challenger and took the set with a superb 21-11 score on the board.
The impressive Chinese shuttler finished off the battle in straight sets with a stunning difference of 21-12 and 21-11.
