Jiangbo Xia secures Women’s 50m freestyle gold – 2012 Paralympic Games
Jiangbo Xia of China secured gold medal of the Women’s 50m freestyle in S3 category on day nine of the swimming events at the 2012 London Paralympic Games in Aquatics Centre on Friday, September 7.
Xia dictated terms to her opponents in one-lap freestyle discipline and paved her way to the medal rostrum for gold medal. She faced tough competition from Olga Sviderska of Ukraine but with her unrelenting efforts, Xia managed to prove her mettle for the
title.
With her nerve-wrecking form in the race, Xia managed to outperform her following swimmer and hit the wall for gold medal with the timing of 48.11 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Sviderska, who stayed 0.28 seconds behind and stepped on the victory stand for silver medal by producing a time of 48.39 seconds.
Sviderska was chased by Patricia Valle of Mexico, who remained nearly seven seconds behind and transpired on the finishing blockade with a timing of 55.72 seconds for bronze medal.
Valle was trailed by Pin Xiu Yip of Singapore, who stayed considerably slower from her former finisher and settled on the wall as fourth fastest swimmer by clocking an effort of 1 minute and 01.64 seconds.
Subsequently, fifth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Semicha Rizaoglou of Greece, who remained almost seven seconds behind and completed her race in fifth best place by producing a time of 1 minute and 08.56 seconds.
Sixth finest spot of the race was obtained by Haidee Viviana Aceves Perez of Mexico, who stayed 1.43 seconds apart and transpired on the finishing blockade with a timing of 1 minute and 09.99 seconds.
Aceves Perez was chased by Annke Conradi of Germany, who remained 0.39 seconds slower from her former finisher and tapped the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 10.38 seconds for seventh position.
Conradi was followed by Vera Thamm of Germany, who failed to surpass any of her challengers and ended her race in eighth place with a timing of 1 minute and 17.04 seconds.
In addition, Xia was pleased with her notable form in the event and raked medal after the event.
