Jiayuan Chen exceeds Febby Angguni in Women’s Singles qualifying round – Indonesia Open Update
Singapore’s talented shuttler Jiayuan Chen had a perfect start in Djarum Indonesia Open as she outshined Febby Angguni in first stage of the qualifying round on June 12, 2012.
However, it was not a smooth ride for victorious girl as she had to wait for 48 minutes to register a winning total of 16-21, 21-12 and 18-21.
Jiayuan Chen is now scheduled to face Thai opponent Busanan Ongbumrungpan and win will take her into main round of the event.

On the other hand, the Singaporean girl showed a strong character against this double trouble and silenced the audience with a thunderous performance in the opening and final set of match.
First set started with both female contestants snapping each other’s heels to gain a comfortable advantage over the rival.
They remained equal until 6-6 but then Jiayuan Chen picked up the pace and swiftly registered a respectable figure of 11-6 before half time.
After the interval, she continued proceeding at top gear and reached at 16-9 in no time. Her opponent Febby Angguni tried to narrow the gap with some continuous points but surrendered after reading concluding margin of 16-21.
The local shuttler aroused hopes of her fans by putting up great show of skills in second set of the match.
This time she proved her guts with a blistering knock and kept the contest alive. She did not allow the opposing shuttler to catch her on scoreboard after 4-2 and established an unassailable lead with 8-3.
At mid-game break, Febby was leading in 11-7 and this helped her to raise her total to 14-7 in third quarter of the set.
This seven-point deficit proved final blow for Jiayuan Chen as she never came out of this and lost second set with notable difference in 12-21.
However, the Singaporean girl managed to stand tall in the decider as she proved tough nut to crack and sealed a splendid victory.
She remained equal until 16-16 but then tipped the scale in her favour by entering concluding figure of 21-18.
