Jim Bolger expecting improved Trading Leather to shine at Ascot – Horseracing news
Jim Bolger believes that Trading Leather has improved to a great extent after winning the Irish Derby and will be a force to reckon with in the upcoming King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot in England.
Although the talented challenger has not been given the best odds for victory, there is every chance that he finishes on top of the table, thus the punters will be looking forward to gamble more on him compared to some of the other
stallions.
There had been some rain at Ascot over the past 24 hours, but the situation seems to be pretty much under control. Bolger said that he was not worried about the ground and further added about his stallion, “He's very well and we
think he has come on again since winning the Irish Derby. He likes nice ground.”
Trading Leather started off his career in 2012 and his performances since the very first race have been terrific. He has not participated in a lot of competitions, but he is already in a position to take on the best in the business
at the highest level. There was only once in his career, when he failed to make it to the top-three, but he has been on top of his game otherwise.
Even during that race, he struggled because of the soft ground, which suited his rivals better. Therefore, his camp will be hoping that the rain does not make a major difference to the track. If the going is fast, there will be
definitely a great chance for the Irish stallion to take the top spot with ease.
Ascot clerk of the course Chris Stickels said, “We watered the straight course with 6mm today and we're expecting a few showers, around 2-4mm on Thursday, so we don't plan on doing any more watering at this stage. Friday should
be mainly dry and Saturday there could be some thunderstorms late afternoon. They may be after racing or during it, it's hard to tell at this stage.”
If the conditions become difficult, Trading Leather might be withdrawn from the race, but his trainer does not seem in that mood right now.
