Jim Bolger pleased with the progress of Dawn Approach – Horseracing news
Jim Bolger has expressed his pleasure over the form and fitness of his trainee Dawn Approach, who is set to take part in the Investec Derby (Group 1) (Entire Colts & Fillies). The all important event is scheduled to take place at Epsom in England on Saturday,
June 1, 2013.
Although there are some very good stallions lined up for action in the class-1 encounter, yet Dawn Approach will be given the best odds for victory because of his tremendous record in the sport. He has participated in a total of seven races and has maintained
a 100 percent winning percentage.
Therefore, Bolger is confident that the Irish colt will continue delivering strong performances in the upcoming events too.
The veteran trainer said, “He (Dawn Approach) has come out of the Guineas very well and his performance in the Guineas was spectacular. I couldn’t be happier with the horse and I have no doubt he is improving.”
However, all of the trainers will be concerned about the track conditions at Epsom, which appear to be very good at the moment. If they remain the same, every stallion will be able to put in his best effort, which will make the competition interesting.
Andrew Cooper, clerk of the racecourse at Epsom stated, “If we were racing today, I would call the ground good and I'm pleased with where we are. I'd be very pleased to start the meeting on ground like this. The intention is not to run the Derby on anything
quicker than good to firm.”
He added that the weather would remain dry over the next week and the temperatures will rise up to 17 degrees Celsius.
If there is no dramatic change in the conditions, Dawn Approach will definitely be able to walk away with a comfortable victory. He does not have much experience of running on softer tracks, so his opponents would have wanted a few showers before the competition.
Despite that, the situation could become interesting, if Battle Of Marengo stays fit before the race. He too has got a pretty decent record and has the ability to surprise his rivals under any circumstances.
