Jim Bolger with impressive credentials at the dusk of the season
The Irish flat racing season did end for everyone, but really not in the highly memorable way which it took for trainer, Jim Bolger. The excitement for the trainer began when his three-year-old filly, Lady Wingshot, won the Knockaire Stakes (Listed Race) on 4th November, 2012 at Leopardstown over seven furlongs. with the guidance of jockey, Ronan Whelan, the favourite entry defeated Ondeafears by incredible four lengths.
The race was not only a milestone for the filly and the trainer, but was highly lucrative for the young jockey, Ronan Whelan, too. He was awarded the title of the champion apprentice on the very same day.
The day presented another victor from the stable of trainer, Jim Bolger, as New Approach’s two-year-old bay filly landed the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Fillies Maiden over seven furlongs. This ride too was the mount for the jockey, Ronan Whelan.
The filly was the trainer’s second favourite winner on the card. She defeated Davanti by three amazing lengths.
Whipper’s three-year-old bay colt, Miracle Cure, gave the connections just what they were seeking out for. He won for them the third race of the day.
The Irish bay colt won the Book Tickets Online At www.christmasatleopardstown.com Handicap over a mile and two furlongs. this entry of Jim Bolger was not paired up with Ronan Whelan, rather had Rory Cleary, in the saddle.
The comments for the winners were:
Ballylinch Stud, said: "There's no decision yet on whether she stays in training. She'll come home soon and it will be debated in the next few weeks."
"She is good. She is a nice filly and will come back here for the Guineas trial at the start of next year. I'd say she will stay a bit," said Bolger.
The rivalry became more intriguing when the entry of trainer, Aidan O’Brien, also won a race.
The jockey said: "You couldn't ask him to be any more impressive. It's heavy ground and a back-end maiden - some of them can be very good and some can be very bad. I hope he is one of the better ones."
Foundry brought back to the stable the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden.
