Jim Bowden predicts Justin Morneau will be traded in future – MLB News
The former general manager of Cincinnati Reds and Washington Nationals Jim Bowden has been predicting in the media that Minnesota Twins first baseman Justin Morneau will be traded soon to the Texas Rangers on various reasons.
Bowden, who currently appears on a renowned sports channel as a baseball analyst, recently told some reporters about the latest status of first baseman and how soon his potential trade talks will be opening up in the media.
Bowden said regarding Morneau and the Rangers, "This might be going out on a limb a little too far, but it's my blog. The Twins will not be contenders, their payroll gives them little flexibility, and the front office is high on first baseman Chris Parmelee.”
He added, “The Rangers, who have a hole at first, may need another bat to keep pace with the other elite AL teams, and with Josh Hamilton a free agent at season's end, they may decide to trade for Mourneau at the deadline, as he appears to be healthy for
the first time in a couple of years."
The main factor behind of Morneau’s potential trade is his injuries. For the past few years, Morneau is facing troubles getting to the field. His injuries have barred him playing for the Twins as he until 2011 missed total 174 games which now giving the
reasons of his trade to the Rangers.
The Rangers, who lately tried to implement a new strategy of bringing an average payroll for all the players potentially for the next few years, will likely to accept the Twins offer. This was also predicted by former Major League executive Bowden and in
addition, he further explained about the Twins recent financial position which is decreasing at every phase.
Coming on the potential trade of Morneau, some baseball experts believe that will also prove good for his future. A nine year-veteran and an exceptionally talented player, Morneau can adjust well wherever he goes. The main fact and somewhat troubling thing
is his continuous injuring while if he takes care of this single fact, Morneau’s game will once again rise towards more excellence.
