Despite the hazardous state of the franchise he owns, Buss still thinks that it will take one major run to get back on the right track…..
The Los Angeles Lakers promised mega success when they brought in superstars Steve Nash and Dwight Howard to their team back in the summer. At that time, the whole NBA fraternity and fans were going gaga as to how the Lakers would
just roll over oppositions like a juggernaut, and how the Miami Heat and the Oklahoma City Thunder would have to pull the next gear to compete.
Nearly midway through the season, the Lakers paint a picture of a project gone horribly wrong and what’s worse is that after a sudden surge, they have once again embarked on a losing skid. Jim Buss, who was one the main man behind
the recent upgrades to the Lakers’ lineup however thinks that goof time are just around the corner. What he insisted was that he still has the belief in his team;
"We still like this team a lot," Buss said Thursday in an interview with ESPNLA 710 radio recently. "How can you not believe in this team? This team is built to win. It's a very, very solid team. We haven't seen them all together
and play together for games. In my mind, we would not consider a temporary fix or blow it up. Why blow up something we have a future with?”
The Lakers struggles have been due to their bad luck as well. Steve Nash got injured right at the start of the season, and it took him nearly 6 weeks to get back on the court. The Lakers also lost reserve point guard Steve Blake
during that stretch, and at present, they are playing without their two big men Dwight Howard and Pau Gasol. Then there has also been the issue of a non-performing secondary lineup, and over reliance on Kobe Bryant to create the offence.
Buss however thinks that despite the setbacks, this team has had enough time on the court together, and the time is ripe for them to start playing upto their potential. That however does not seem likely at the moment.
