Jim Duncan speaks his mind on Tseng's current performance
Jim Duncan, the head instructor at Hills International Golf Academy, Brisbane, seems as concerned about Yani Tseng’s slumping performance as her avid fans, as he recently spoke to the media about why the most
talented LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) star is unable to show her real skills on the course.
Duncan said that he has been close to the current world number one golfer since she played as a junior, and seeing her display a grim performance this summer is really upsetting. He said that Tseng is currently
the most charismatic player on the LPGA Tour, and whoever saw her play as a junior was sure that she would make a name for herself in professional golf.
“She had a lot of talent and was always going to be a good player,” Duncan added.
Hills International Golf Academy had helped Tseng improve her game when she was an amateur — and this is what has prompted Duncan to express his feelings over her slump.
He went on to say that he never saw Tseng lose her nerves on the course while she was training at the Academy, and this is why she has always played a natural game — something that has set her apart from the
rest of professional players on the LPGA Tour.
“She was very relaxed and very calm. There was nothing that seemed to worry her. I think that’s what’s taken her through to where she’s at at the moment”.
Tseng, who has seized the world number one position in the Women’s World Golf Rankings for more than a year now, is going through a rough time these days, as she is unable to record a good finish in recent
tournaments.
The last tournament — the Evian Masters 2012 — came as big blow to the top-ranked prodigy as she could not make the cut. Now, with her fans and admirers wondering what has gone wrong with the still-strong LPGA
star, Tseng finds herself in a great pressure, as getting back on track has now become her top priority.
“I think she’s carrying the weight of a nation on her shoulders. She needs to probably enjoy her golf a little better, which is difficult when you get to No. 1 and there’s so much expected of you from everybody.
I think she needs to get back and be a kid again,” Duncan shared.
