Jim Furyk expects to perform well at British Open 2012
In golf one does not ever have to wait for a very long time for a major. The next major is always around the corner. It does not take very long for the tables to turn. This is exactly what Jim Furyk is hoping for.
Furyk had a disappointing end to his last month’s US Open. After the first three rounds, he had a score of one-under par and a one-point lead. He almost had it. He just needed to do what he was doing for the past three days. Unfortunately he failed at the
end.
On the final day, Furyk scored four bogeys, on the sixth, thirteenth, sixteenth and eighteenth hole. There were no birdies or eagles for the world 32nd throughout the day. These made his score four-over par for the day and his total score climbed
up to three-over par.
The leader till the third day finished tied at the fourth position with four other players. He was two strokes behind the winner of the US Open 2012, Webb Simpson.
Now Furyk will be looking to bounce back at the British Championship Open 2012. He will be looking to bag the Claret Jug and will use the experience he gained from the last month’s US Open.
The four-day event starts from the 19th of July and ends on the 22nd of July. The venue for the tournament is Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Course.
Discussing his game in an interview, Furyk said, “I have always had a big drive to succeed and play well and work hard. If I play poorly, it makes me mad and makes me want to do better next time. If I play well and come so close, it's disappointing but I'll
work hard either way. At the end of my career, I'm not going to look back and have any regrets”.
Previously, the conditions at the Lytham were not favourable for the players. The players had to adjust in heavy rain.
The same is expected this year. Nonetheless, Furyk is very confident about his game and ready to play under all sorts of conditions.
“It doesn't matter to me, I've done low in both (good and bad conditions). I've shot 25 and 28 under to win golf tournaments and I've gone around in even par to win golf tournaments. You just adjust to the conditions,” he added.
