Jim Furyk shoots an eventful 69 at Sherwood Golf and Country Club
Jim Furyk shot a second consecutive 69 at the Sherwood Golf and Country. Although it was not as convincing as he would have wanted, it did the job for him.
Furyk’s front nine was very eventful as compared to his last round. The American shot three birdies and two bogeys on the front nine, whereas in the previous round, he carded only one bogey on the front nine holes.
World number 26 started off magnificently at the second round of World Challenge. Jim carded a birdie right on the very first hole.
However, his joy was short lived, as he shot a bogey on the second. Furyk had a sluggish front nine, as he carded two more birdies on the 5th and the 6th respectively.
He bogeyed the 8th and finished one-over on the front. His back nine was steady and composed, as he posted two birdies on the 10th and the 13th hole.
In both the rounds, Furyk has had a better showing on the back nine as compared to his performance on the front nine.
He has scored a total of six birdies on the back nine at Sherwood Golf Club over the two rounds but the best thing about it is that he has not scored a bogey on the back nine.
Furyk is winless so far this year and this is his chance to sign off his season with a victory. He is currently three shots adrift of the leader, McDowell.
Another decent round on Saturday will surely make things interesting. The American is currently tied for the second spot along with Keegan Bradley and Bo Van Pelt.
Keegan has had his share of problems over the past couple of days but the credit goes to him for the way he has responded to all that is happening off the field, concerning the belly putters.
The overnight leader Nick Watney could not continue his decent run of form, as he carded one-over for the day.
The conditions were not that easy for golf, as there was a slight drizzle throughout the day. Nevertheless, it cannot made an excuse as there were players who impressed on Friday.
