Jim Leyland does not want to discuss his situation – MLB Detroit Tigers News
What Jim Leyland has done for the Tigers during his time at Detroit is quite extraordinary. Leyland’s ability to put the pieces of the puzzle together is what separates him from other Manager in Major League Baseball.
There is no denying the fact Leyland is extremely happy with his current job but he does not want to talk about it. When the Tigers were preparing for Game 3 of the five match American League Divisional Series with the Oakland Athletics, he spoke about what
he was doing Monday evening after leaving the O.co Coliseum in Oakland.
"I saw a couple on the trolley today with Tigers caps on," Leyland said. "I took my wife to dinner last night and I got in the cab to come home and the guy was from Pittsburgh about five minutes from where I live, the guy driving the cab. I told him I might
be driving one with him."

However, Leyland was reluctant to answer the follow up questions about recent reports that he wants to continue working with the Detroit Tigers.
"I'm not talking about anything about me," Leyland said. "I haven't done that all year. Everybody's known that I want to manage. That's no secret. But we're not talking about me.”

Leyland definitely knows how important is it to focus on the task at hand, which is to lead the Tigers to the World Series title glory. He does not want his personal issues to become a distraction for his team, which is a very sensible under the present circumstances.
However, until Leyland signs another contract with the club, the topic will be there to be discussed.
Leyland has years of experience as a Manager. Not only is he a reliable person, he also has the ability to get the best of the players even during the most difficult times. Surely, the Tigers will be looking to extend his contract irrespective of this season’s
outcome.
Even if the Tigers decide to end the deal, with his experience, Leyland will have a job next season if he wants one. According to sources, Leyland has been telling his close friends and relatives that he wants to come back to Pittsburgh; his home town. However,
it is likely he will stay in Detroit for one more year.
Leyland and company underachieved a bit during the regular season. However, they raised their game play in closing stages of the season to claim their second straight American League Central Division title. Tigers are now tied 2-2 with the A’s in their five
match American League Division Series and it is an ideal time for Leyland to end his tenure with the Tigers on a high.
