Jim Leyland pleased to stay with Detroit Tigers for one more year – MLB Update
Despite the end result, everyone agrees that Jim Leyland was the right man for the Detroit Tigers who led them into 2012 World Series.
Though the Tigers lost with bitter disgrace against the San Francisco Giants in World Series, but still no one in the Tigers’ camp pointed fingers at Jim Leyland and made him responsible for that disastrous 4-0 outcome.
Instead, they put him in the limelight and now extended his contract for one more year.
Not only Leyland will remain in-charge of the Tigers, but all the other supporting coaches will also be joining him in the next Major League Baseball season.
“Detroit is a tremendous baseball town, and I couldn’t dream of a better place to manage, The support of Mr. Ilitch and Dave is second to none and gives this club an opportunity to win every year. Tigers fans and the people of Michigan have supported us so well during my time here, I can’t even begin to express how much that means to me,” Leyland said in a released statement and told the reporters about his feelings to remain with the Tigers.
Later Tigers president and general manager Dombrowski said in a released statement and explained about Leyland and why the Tigers' management wants him for another one year, “Jim is as fine a manager as there is in baseball, he has done a fantastic job for the organization, and we are thrilled to have him back managing the Tigers in 2013.”
Leyland has been around in Major League for quite some time now. He is managing teams since 1986. His experience is huge and that what actually matters when someone examines some manager’s level of experience and outcomes in a certain period of time.
His experience was also the main reason as to why the Tigers achieved that certain level of consistency in their game which determined their final World Series spot.
Experts also believe that Jim Leyland knows real tricks of the trade. Since he first came out as Major League Baseball manager in 1986 with the Pittsburgh Pirates, he showed some tremendous amount of improvement in just ten years. He established the Pirates as major contender in the league while now with the Tigers for one more year, who knows, he might help them prevail towards the peak of excellence.
