Jim Thome loves to be in Philadelphia Phillies but will not resist playing in American League-MLB

End of the inter-league games had opened debate about the future of a veteran Jim Thome in the Philadelphia Phillies. Due to back strain, he cannot play in the field.
Therefore, for as long as he could be used as a designated hitter, the Phillies employed him. Only role he can play for the club now is being a pinch-hitter.
However, with pinch hitting job, his ability to display power on the plate will be handicapped as no regular at-bats can be allowed.
In this context, the Phillies earlier stated that Thome may be traded with one of the American League teams, where he will have ample opportunities to demonstrate his power on the plate as a designated hitter.
Negotiations are yet to get underway, which means Thome still has time with the Phillies. Until an agreement is reached with any of the clubs, Thome will look to contribute as much as he can as a pinch-hitter.
Thome has been playing for number of clubs in his career. Currently, he is going through a second stint with the Phillies. He is passing through penultimate moments as a Major Leaguer.
The kind of experience he has, in case if he is moved to the AL, he will not take much time for adjustments.
Meanwhile, there are bright chances that he may be sent in a club with which he has already played.
Phillies will pay respect to Thome, considering his services for the club and for the game of baseball at-large. They will duly incorporate his preference while finalising trade with any club.
“This time of year, late June through the end of July, names get thrown out there,” Thome said. “I’m a Philadelphia Phillie, and until I’m approached about that, that’s all I can say out of respect for the fans, out of respect to the city, for the organization.
I came here to try to help this club win. With that, I’m also old enough in my career where I get the business side of it, too.”
Irrespective of where Thome lands ultimately, he is aware of the fact that he can never be as effective as he was in his heydays.
One will hope that he will keep the current momentum of making huge hits on the plate intact and will benefit the club with which he will be playing after the trade.
