it seems to me that this whole "resurrection" of melbourne is almost a vanity trip for new president jim stynes

my thoughts are echoed in this article:

  1. i rekon they should just restart..

like.. every single player over 22 should go and they should just do everything they have previously done.. only the complete opposite

i think the jim stynes era will be brighter 4 melbourne..

after all.. look at what they did 2 my beloved lions just after he was elected!!

  2. I can see where you're coming from, but I think that he genuinely wants to help the club that he is passionate about. I really do believe that he is trying his best to help the club, and he isn't in the job for his own benefit. I've actually heard that he was a bit reluctant in accepting the position, but did so to help the club.

  3. Leave Jim alone, he's Irish & that's all you need! lol

  4. **It's not looking good for Melbourne at the moment but I think if you give Jim Stynes a bit of time he might be able to turn the club around a bit.  Things like that don't happen overnight and it'll take a lot of work.

You've just got to see Jim Stynes talk about the footy club to know that he's very passionate about it and I think he'll do the best job that he can.**

  5. I was wondering when this one was going to come up!! Whispers on this side of the country were suggesting that Mr Stynes is now running a dictatorship at MFC.

I hope not - I thought he went in there with good intentions and I applaud ex players who dive in and get their hands dirty after retirement. Look forward to hearing from others on this one!!

  6. yep

  7. the whole team needs an overhaul

  8. send everyone with more than 2 years' experience at Melbourne to the Gold Coast club and recruit from the bottom up - that means also the administration.

Anyone starting there must sign a clause that includes "NOTHING comes before Melbourne FC except urgent family matters" ie no skiing, no Wimbledon, no big-noting yourself promoting Irish-Australian football alliances. The admin needs to focus on the club, as the players do.

If they want an example about how to turn your personal culture around, get them to talk to David Schwarz, who did!

  9. As much as things have been stuffed at the MFC since the Norm Smith sacking, how would trying anything that may work be a "dictatorship"?

Jimmy Stynes I thought is the "God" of Melbourne footy club.

Melbourne is so messed up, make a grand final a few times since 1964, but do not compete. Strange setup with the MCC, lots of everything stuffed up at the club.

If Jimmy fixes everything, what will all the naysayers do next?

  10. it wont work they need to dump all there players an start afresh

  11. He will need all the "luck of the Irish' to get the Dees out of this mess, a few four leaf clovers and a pot of gold or 2 would also help, this maybe a short term fix but in the long run the demons are doomed for relocation

  12. I think everyone is aware that being where he is may not be the place for and ex-player. He has become a "golden boy", but I don't think that means he has the Midas touch when it comes to the grubby business of running a football club. Everyone is watching, and when the time comes he will be judged on his merits.

I have heard very uncomplimentary things about the performance of MacNamee (or is that non-performance). On the face of it, that was the right decision. The messenger was Stynes, who decided is unknown. Too early to judge Stynes, give him a chance.
