Real Zaragoza boss, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manolo-c23349 Jimenez, has come out and put the blame on himself after his team’s 2-0 defeat at the hands of Real Valladolid on Sunday.
The coach stated that it was due to his constant demanding from his players that they have lost the match in the weekend.
He believes that his insistence on staying in both the Primera Division and the Copa del Rey is what has stretched his players. He said that they were not mentally and physically prepared for the game.
“The biggest culprit is me for demanding that the team is in two competitions and we have been unprepared for both.”
Additionally, the Spanish tactician has admitted that his team is no longer playing as a unit. He said his team is now disintegrated but believes that everything will change for the better soon.
“The players have dropped as a group, but I trust in them to reverse the situation.”
Reflecting on the match, the former Sevilla boss stated that his team was in standstill mode. He added that his defenders did not deal effectively with the dangers posed by their opponents.
“We were very cold in this game, whilst Valladolid’s first goal came after a resounding failure of our defence.”
Moreover, the 49-year-old also mentioned how the injuries sustained by some of his players changed the outcome of the match. He believes Valladolid capitalised on their opportunity and because of that they could not secure a positive result for his side.
“They then got ahead, they drew petrol from that and we lost Looven, Apono and Pinter to injury, and it was indeed a relaxing half-time break.”
Finally, it was not all too bad for Zaragoza as their boss believes his players tried to get something back or at least salvage their pride as they chased the game in the second-half.
“The injuries have disconnected us from the game, but from half-time we managed to improve and we were able to break up the game.”
Jimenez’s men are four points above the relegation zone as they sit on the 13th position with 22 points in the Primera Division.
