Real Zaragoza boss, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manolo-c23349 Jimenez, has urged his players to keep their eyes open and not be headless chickens when they encounter Athletic Bilbao tonight.
Jimenez’s men will travel to the Basque country with the intention of leapfrogging their opponents with a victory.
The Zaragoza boss stated that he wants his players to display a great performance and come away with a positive result. However, he admitted that it will not be an easy task for them at the San Mames.
“We want to play a good game and try to get something positive at a difficult ground like San Mames.”
The tactician believes Athletic know what they are doing and will always go for it. He warned that if the players don’t pay any attention, then they will create opportunities for their opponents.
“Athletic have a very clear philosophy and are brave. If we are like headless chickens we will provide spaces.”
The former Sevilla trainer then reflected back on 2012. It is a year that is special for him since he rescued the club from relegation.
The 48-year-old was humble and refused to take credit for Zaragoza’s survival. He said that they were all in it together.
“Let us remember the past. It was not me who saved Zaragoza, we were all together.”
Jimenez then talked about what they will do after the game at the San Mames and revealed that their holiday will start when they achieve their purpose.
“The holiday starts when we’re in the showers at San Mames, with the homework done.”
Finally, the tactician also revealed the deal he made with his players. He told them that he will give them half of the day off for each victory they achieve.
“It’s a deal I made with them, two wins, in the Cup, against Levante and at Vallecas. I give them half a day for each win. But we couldn’t win against Levante.”
Zaragoza are a far cry from the team they were last season. They have done better this time around. Now they can enjoy the holidays knowing that they are six points above the relegation zone.
They are on the 14th position with 19 points in La Liga.
