Jimmer Fredette and Kemba Walker to run drills for Utah Jazz in the pre draft work out – NBA Update
Utah Jazz want to get on the winning track and they want to make this transition quickly. The Jazz have been one of the most actives teams in the weeks preceding to the June 23 draft day. With a number three draft pick in their
hand, the Jazz have been on the quest of infusing a star performer in the line-up. The most recent development in this regard will see the Salt Lake City franchise scheduling two of the most promising talents for a work out in their arena. According to the
sources, point guard Kemba Walker from the University of Connecticut and Brigham Young University (BYU) star Jimmer Fredette are going to showcase their talents on 15 June at the franchise.
Kemba, known for his agility and offensive prowess has matured into a consistent performer during the course of the last year. Walker had a brilliant average of 23.4 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.3 assists during the 2010-2011 collegiate
season and guided Huskies towards the 2011 NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship title. Before Utah’s session, Kemba is expected to work out for Detroit Pistons on Wednesday and Sacramento Kings on 13th June.
This will be the first time that both aspiring stars will be featuring in a team drill together. Commenting on the prospect of confronting the star player from Connecticut, Fredette said “Kemba is a very good player and I like
him. He's a good guy. He's fun to be around. But he's a competitor, and so am I. And you want to go out there and show that you can play with anybody. That's what I've been wanting to do my whole career, and I'm looking forward to battling against him again."
The 22 year old Fredette also had a phenomenal last season with BYU and averaged 28.9 points, 3.4 rebounds and 4.3 assists. The contest between the two players is definitely going to be an exhilarating one and it won’t be easy
for the Jazz to decide which player to select as their third overall pick.
Fredette however, is more concerned to be drafted by a team, which fits his playing style rather than being selected at the top, “It's all about longevity of the career. If you're in the wrong situation, even if you go high, your
career can be cut really short and that's not what you want. You want to be able to stay in it for a long time. I hope to be in the NBA for a long time and have a great career."
