Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon to appear for fans in May’s Throw-down at Charlotte Motor Speedway
Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon will give a fan appearance in the May 21 Hoedown Hospitality, the Throw-down event at the Charlotte Motor Speedway.
The two prominent Hendrick Motorsports drivers will host the Throw-down and provide their followers a chance to meet them in the biggest party in town, at the NASCAR All-Star Race event. Both will appear in a special hospitality area to interact with the
fans. Johnson and Gordon both has won the Sprint Cup Championship and among the top paid drivers at NASCAR, also have huge fan following.
The President and General Manager of CMS Marcus Smith is looking after all the arrangements, is actively involved in convincing both drivers to come at the value added event.
“The fans are the foundation of this sport, and we think it is a top priority to give them access to their favourite drivers during race weekend,” said Smith. “The Hoedown Hospitality at the Throw-down is another way that we put fans first so that they can
have a great time and create lifelong memories at the ‘greatest place to see the race.”
The May’s All-Star Race event is a non-points race, in which drivers run only for prestige and cash reward. The participants include Sprint Cup previous season’s race winners as well as from the current season, also past ten event’s winners and past decade’s
Cup Series Champions.
The race held each year to provide fans a special event that includes star drivers of the decade, followed by some supplementary activities to make the event memorable. This year, the organisers have adopted Western-style Throw-down them for the NASCAR dash-for-the-cash
race. The race tickets have been bundled with special fun package to attract more fans to the showdown event. The package includes a special forum for both NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champions, where their followers will interact with them.
The CMS organisers have also scheduled some other activities including live entertainment, food and live music beside the NASCAR no-hold-barred dash to make the event more attractive and colourful.
The five times defending champion Johnson, driver No.48 Chevrolet Impala, is among the favourites for the championship and well-liked in public. He is currently at the second spot on the points table after competing in all eight races. He has one victory,
four top-five and one top-ten finish so far.
The four times Cup winner and No. 24 driver, Gordon is also very popular among the masses in United States. He is also likely to make the Chase for this season, currently placed on 13th place in the season’s standing table with one win and three
top-five finishes.
