Jimmy Barbiere captures Men’s 500yard freestyle gold – Indiana vs. Virginia vs. Penn State Tri Meet
Jimmy J Barbiere of Hoosiers captured gold medal of the Men’s 500yard freestyle at the 2012 Indiana vs. Virginia vs. Penn State Tri Meet on Friday, November 16 in Bloomington, Indiana.
Barbiere stayed in a comfortable lead over his opponents and transpired on the finishing end for gold medal. He showed no leniency to his challenger and proved his mettle for top spot on the podium.
The 23-year-old Barbiere remained half a body length ahead of his following swimmer and surfaced on the finishing end by producing a wonderful time of 4 minutes and 24.15 seconds.
His gold winning effort remained 0.58 seconds slower from the champion and hit the wall for silver medal by producing a time 4 minutes and 24.73 seconds.
The silver medallist was chased by Jon J Daniec of Virginia-VA, who was 1.07 seconds slower and emerged on the finishing end for bronze medal by clocking a time of 4 minutes and 25.80 seconds.
Daniec was trailed by Nick C Ankosko of Penn State-MA, who was 0.38 seconds slower and clocked an effort of 4 minutes and 26.18 seconds for fourth spot.
Subsequently, Ankosko was chased by Chris G Webb of Virginia-VA, who stayed 3.04 seconds away from his former finisher and clocked a time of 4 minutes and 29.22 seconds for fifth place.
Sixth spot of the discipline was obtained by John W Hauser of Penn State-MA, who was almost two seconds slower and touched the wall with an effort of 4 minutes and 31.17 seconds.
Hauser was followed by Jonathan Buerger of Virginia-VA, who was nearly two body lengths behind and ended his race in seventh place by clocking a time of 4 minutes and 33.00 seconds.
Last spot of the race was obtained by Nick A Schwab of Hoosiers, who was unable to upset any of his competitors as she remained 1.61 seconds behind and posted an effort of 4 minutes and 34.61 seconds.
In addition, Barbiere received massive admiration from the audience for his notable effort and told that he would try his level best to continue the same in future events.
