Jimmy deserved to be the winner, he is a true champion, he has class and now he is a Brownlow medalist.

How about Simon Black? The media didn't hop onto his bandwagon, didn't they?

  1. Simon Black wasn't one of the favourites i was so surprised he made the list. Chad Cornes didn't do well either neither did Jonathan brown. Go Jimmy his going to be one player!

p.s i guess this year might be the year of the cat hey hahaha

    GO CATS :)

  2. I think a worthy winner.  Has had an unbelievable year, gotten plenty of the ball in just about all the games he has played, and to do so with ablett taking votes as well just further shows how good he was.

I think if brisbane had have won a few more games then simon black would have had a bigger show.  An awesome effort from him none the less though.

  3. personally id rather harvey win, from what ive seen most of bartels touches were given to him and uncontested, but thats just what ive seen and harvey was by far the roo's best player, he probably won a few matches for them

  4. bartel was definately a worthy and consistent winner but i think black kind of went unoticed as he dropped off towards to end of the season after a raging start

  5. Yep, definately a worthy winner :)

I dont think anyone antisipated Simon Black would poll that many votes..I was shocked to be honest.

Likewise with Dane Swan (Collingwood)..there was a mad frenzy of phone calls when they realised that he was in the top 5!!

  6. HEY there big Kev,definately a worthy winner in jimmy Bartel hes had an outstanding year and i hope he gets his hands on a grand final medal as well,on simon black well i think the brownlow votes were a true reflection of the lions this year in that simon black dominated early in the season with j brown taking up the reins in the second half-although i didn't think black would get quite as many votes as he did.

  7. A worthy winner indeed. But did you see G. Ablett jnr's face when he was expected to pole in games only polled with 1 vote or none. I guess with Jnr the media made him out to be a hero. he is (in my eyes) but really they expect to much from him.

Jimmy is a very modest footballer and I think it took him all by surprise. A well deserved winner.

    Go the Cats!

  8. OMG!! Kev i just wasted 5 points on a question about the brownlow medal. Oh well thank you for letting me know Bartel won :)

  9. yes big kev, jimmy was a worthy winner, had a super year. simon black i was surprised with, yes he is a great player, but i never thought he would poll that well

  10. Yeah simon black, that was werd as, media didnt get on his band wagon because i dont think he was that good this year. NO where near as good as his brownlow year, little impact on most games he played this year.

Bartel a acceptable brownlow medelist, but i still think ablett jnr, sud of got it. He was able to change games with one kick. The way he was able to dodge, weave  and evade oppsition players was incredible to watch. He was able to do things as Judd is able to do, brillant talent

  11. Jimmy  is a fantastic player, he goes in extremely hard at the ball and that is the hallmark for a great player.

Simon Black was unlucky, but he didn't have a great second half of the season due to some injurys in the middle of the season. Therefore the media wouldn't have hopped on his bandwagon because of his slump in form in the second half of the year.

  12. Yep I thought he did great this year. So happy Gary Ablett jr. didn't win. Loved Ablett's face during the counting! He wasn't top happy :)

  13. Definitely.

My self as a Lions/magpie supporter would have prefered to see Brown or Black with more votes but I am happy to see the best player of 2007 come from the best club of 2007.

    Worthy winner
