Attacking midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jimmy-Briand-c18553 has never really been a fan favourite at the Stade de Gerland. However, in an interview, the 26-year-old hit out at criticism aimed at him by his own fans and openly spoke about his relationship with the Lyon faithful.

With two goals and two assists in Ligue 1 for Les Gones, Jimmy Briand is still far from proving his worth at the Rhone club. so far, Jimmy Briand has to fight for his place in the Lyon starting XI with the likes of Maxime Gonalons and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kim-c20955 Kallstrom becoming
essential in Remi Garde’s plans.
The 26-year-old signed for Les Gones from Stade Rennais in the summer of 2010 for six million Euros and is still far away from being an automatic starting choice for Remi Garde.
During his time at Stade Rennais, Briand became famous for his knack of scoring goals at the right time and when it mattered the most. However, his status at Lyon has not really raised in recent weeks. While talking to L’Equipe, Briand said that people still
expect him to be the same player who scored goals and made a big difference.
Briand said that he now plays in the right midfield which does not allow him to score as frequently as possible. Briand admits that he doesn’t score as freely as he did when he was at Rennais, but argues that there is a reason why his name is on the team-sheet
week in week out.
Briand also said that he doesn’t mind being in the shadow as long as his team keeps winning. Many people have criticised Briand’s technical abilities but Briand openly says that he should not be expected to play like Real Madrid star http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristiano-Ronaldo-c9629. Briand
admits that his technical ability is limited but he is not bothered about it.
“I know what my strengths are and I have a game that based more on speed and percussion. Quite honestly, I am happy as I am today. It is sad because it’s never pleasant when people whistle at me. People have changed a little and now it happens more or less.
Though it overwhelms me, it doesn’t bother me,” Briand said.
With such a confident man in his squad Remi Garde must be happy to know that there are players who know their limits and do not worry about what supporters think of them.
