Jimmy Rollins, Ryan Madson and Raul Ibanez offered arbitrations by Philadelphia Phillies -MLB Update
In order to check another to-do box off of their list, the Philadelphia Phillies offered arbitration to three of their players, veteran shortstop Jimmy Rollins, pitcher Ryan Madson and left fielder Raul Ibanez, on November 23, 2011, after the trio became
free agents after the 2011 season ended.
According the Major League Baseball franchise, all three players were termed to be coming out one of their best seasons and would do great for the team by staying on board.
The free agent trio will have until December 7, 2011, to accept the deal from their former team at the money, which will guarantee them a one-year contract at the least, along with a salary that will be decided during the arbitration hearing later in February
of next year if there is not an agreement until then between the two stakeholders.
All is not well for the Phillies since all of the players are not anticipating one-year deals and are looking more towards a multi-year contract worth more than anything they possibly could get during the lengthy arbitration process.
Jimmy Rollins and Ryan Madson are expected to look into their other option before settling anywhere else but Raul Ibanez on the other hand has been reported to be offered a lower price from the one he settled for previously, making his decision unlikely
to be clear cut at the moment.
The Philadelphia Phillies can also be happy about the new collective bargaining agreement (CBA) which was signed between the players and MLB franchise owners recently because of the draft picks they would receive in order to revamp up their team.
It will certainly be interest if Rollin and Madson accept to the arbitration offers which the Phillies are offering them at the moment, but it is once again, very unlikely since both players have high chances of being offered longer and better deals around
the league unlike Ibanez, who might just have to settle with the team for a cheaper price.
Developments on the issue are expected within the upcoming days, which could come as a surprise for most fans and analysts.
