Jimmy Walker aims a victory in the Valero Texas Open – Golf News
The United States’ Jimmy Walker is entering the field of the Valero Texas Open at the Oaks Course at TPC San Antonio with an aim to register his first win ever on the PGA Tour.
Walker is currently enjoying his great form on the PGA Tour, as he made the cut eight times in the 10 starts he made this year.
In addition to that, he succeeded in registering three top-10 finishes, including his best finish of being tied for the fourth place in the Northern Trust Open.
Last year, he faced some injury issues that affected his performance on the course. At the end of the 2011 season, he suffered a knee injury, which became a sign of worry for him.
However, he recovered quickly and bounced back strongly to record some really good finishes on the PGA Tour.
While playing the Northern Trust Open, he was asked about his injury issue, to which he replied by saying that he completely recovered early in the season.
“No, the knee was good,” he said. “I had a little back problem for about two months in the middle of the year last year, but we all have those little quirks and stuff that pop up. You've just got to deal with them, and we did. I feel great”.
“I did a lot of conditioning in the off season, and this is my sixth tournament in a row, so I feel like all that is kind of paying off,” he added. “We've got an RV that we're traveling in, and it helps make you feel like you're at home more, and that helps
let you stay out a little longer”.
His recent track record and fitness may play a great role in recording his sole victory on the PGA Tour.
Moreover, he will be enjoying the home-soil advantage over his competitors participating in the event, as he grew up playing golf in San Antonio, Texas.
This is the reason why he is so eager to make another start in the tournament where he made his best appearance in 2010, to tie for the third position.
