Jimmy White sets up Judd Trump clash in 2012 China Open snooker tournament
Former six-time World Snooker Championship runner up, England’s Jimmy White will be meeting the 2011 World Snooker Championship runner up, compatriot Judd Trump in the potential first round clash of 2012 China Open Snooker tournament. The event will commence
from March 26 at the Beijing University Students Gymnasium in Beijing with all major potters from around the world.
The Whirlwind has not been a consistent performer in the current season because he was not able to win any major or minor ranking snooker tournament. The Englishman is still hoping for good news out of the China Open and the upcoming 2012 World Snooker Championship
as he believes he can perform up to the mark in both of these tournaments and win them.
Speaking to the Press Association Sport, White said, “I still can win any tournament and I'm in the top 48 so I only have to beat two players to get to the World Championship. I just still love playing and always have done so while I keep doing that I'm
just going to keep enjoying it. I will be there. I'm playing too well not to be there.”
He added, “After that, if I can keep it going, who knows. I'm giving it plenty of time on the practice table.”
The current performance of the recent snooker season is above average so far. His current match winning rate is 55.3 percent after winning 21 matches out of 38 matches. On the other hand, his frame winning percentage is 50.8 as he took 123 sets after playing
in the 242 frames. By the looks of his performance, White’s form in the 2012 China Open is a bit doubtful.
Meanwhile, the 22-year-old Bristolian, Judd Trump, has been on top of his form in the current circuit and has clinched a couple of tournaments to improve his rankings. Trump is defending the Chinese title and is one of the top contenders to claim the title.
White will be looking to pull up his socks to beat the Bristol potter.
As far as the head-to-head stats are concerned, both players have played against each other once before in the third round of 2011-12 Players Tour Championship (PTC) Event 9 where Trump defeated White by a close score line of 4-3.
