  1. wilde is widely considered to be the best flyweight of all time, so i am gonna go with wilde by decision in a spirited, fast paced bout.

  2. GREAT GREAT MATCHUP!   Did I say great yet?  The greatest fighter to ever come from Scotland ''Our Benny'' Lynch vs. Jimmy ''The mighty atom'' Wilde. WOW!!

Well if Lynch had not passed away at such a young age after only 7 years of fighting his record would be almost as impressive as Wilde's. Lynch was 77 - 10 -15 no dec. (15 kayo's) while Wilde was 131 - 3 - 2 -13 no dec. (99 kayo's)and called by The Ring as the 3rd greatest puncher of all time. Lynch was only stopped once while Wilde according to The Ring Magazine reportedly had nearly 800+ fights!!! (Read the Ring record book and encyclopedia its incredible)  Most against men outweighing him by 50 - 70 pounds! And he was among the first group to be enshrined in the boxing hall of fame in 1990.

As a second generation Scot I would love to pull for Lynch. Grandad always told stories of him and was proud but sad at what happened to him. But I see this as a SUPER boxing/slugging spectacle held in front of 100,000 fans, seeing as both had huge followings.

I think Wilde would pull out the dec. With his non stop punching, and I feel each would throw 100 punches a round.  I base this only on the fact Lynch was taken so young and stopped boxing in his prime before he had a chance to show his dominence.

  3. What a great fight this would have been.  Wilde was one of the most powerful little men to ever fight with an incredible record of 131-3-2 with 99 kayo's.  Gene Tunney called him the greatest fighter he ever saw.  No only was he fast, be he punched hard and was very accurate as well.  Benny Lynch also had a great reputation as one of the alltime great lightweight fighters with a record of 83-13-15 and 34 kayo's  In 111 career fights he was only knocked out once.   Lynch also had very fast hands so this would have been an action packed and fast moving fight between two great little men.  Both men are equal in speed with Wilde definetly having the punching power edge.  Lynch was very tough with great endurance so I don't believe there would have been a knockout for either man in this fight.  Wilde would land the harder punches but Lynch would hold his own and make it a close fight.  It would go the distance with both men firing away at the end.  I believe that Wilde wins a close but unanimous decision over the great Lynch.

  4. One of my dream fights as well. Wish I could be a little more sure of a clear winner, but this fight could go either way.

Wilde was 132-3-2 (100 ko's) Thats a hel.l of a record.  Wilde was a DANGEROUS hitter. Was great at feinting a man into position for a ko. In footage, he moved quickly in and out of range. Lynch, If not alert at all times could find himself on the wrong end of one of these punches.

However, Benny lynch was a marvel. Watch Benny Lynch vs. Jackie Brown, My God Lynch had some of the best dancing and footwork, for even TODAYS standards. ( would make Willie Pep blush and smile.) At times, Benny could get a bit wild and open, With Jimmy possible captilizing on this. However if Benny kept on his toes and his wits at all times, he could possibly win a descision.

Truly a shame about Lynch (He was Scottish). Career over at 25 yrs. of age. Suffering acholism the rest of his life and dying from malnutrition at the age of 33. Sad end to a true great.
