Jimmy Yoder clinches Men’s 800m freestyle title: Day One – 2011 USA Swimming Sectionals
Jimmy Yoder of Rays demonstrated his unbeatable swimming efforts in the Men’s 800m freestyle on the first day of the 2011 USA Swimming Sectionals.
The 15-year-old Yoder won the title of the event in a stunning time of 8 minutes and 17.46 seconds. He was trailed by Jay Y Litherlan of DYNA, who touched the wall for silver medal, by submitting a time of 8 minutes and 22.83 seconds. The podium was completed
by Dirk D Bell of MPSC, who stayed nearly two seconds behind Litherlan and secured the bronze medal, with a timing of 8 minutes and 24.77 seconds.
The gold medallist gained a comfortable lead over his fellow swimmers in the first lap, where he completed his initial lap in 27.59 seconds. His dominating stroke and extraordinary skills enabled him to extend his lead throughout the race. The 15-year-old
champion continued his dominance in the distant freestyle swim and extended his lead to almost 5 seconds over his closest competitor, Litherlan, who won the silver medal.
In the meantime, Jameson Hill of ABSC completed his swim in a fourth fastest time of 8 minutes and 26.24 seconds. His time was only 2.13 seconds faster from his subsequent swimmer, Elliott M Brock of DYNA, who appeared as the fifth fastest swimmer of the
event, by producing a time of 8 minutes and 28.37 seconds. Moments later, Brock’s team-member, Kevin R Litherl touched the finishing wall in 8 minutes and 29.49 seconds to secure the sixth fastest spot of the event.
He stayed 4.06 seconds away from his following swimmer, Wil W Singley of NCAC, who finished his swim in the seventh place by reporting in a time of 8 minutes and 33.55 seconds. Charles F Bolga of Hilton Head Aqua was the eighth fastest swimmer of the meet,
as he was 0.03 seconds slower than Singley and posted a time of 8 minutes and 33.58 seconds.
The crowd applauded for the magnificent swims of all swimmers, while the winners received medals and accolades after the session.
