Jin Kim Hye and Chad Le Close shine in Stockholm: Day two – 2011 FINA World Cup
Korea’s Jin Kim Hye and South Africa’s Chad Le Clos impressed the arena at the 2011 FINA World Cup series, in Stockholm, Sweden, on Sunday, October 16. The session of the meet conducted the Women’s 200m breast-stroke and Men’s 200m back-stroke finals.
Kim Hye secured the 200m breast-stroke title over her competitors, Joline Hostman of Sweden and compatriot, Darae Jeong by posting a breathtaking time of 2 minutes and 22.41 seconds. Meanwhile, Hostman picked silver medal in a time of 2 minutes and 22.47 seconds and Jeong settled for bronze title in a time of 2 minutes and 22.59 seconds.
Australia’s Sally Foster earned fourth place honours in 2 minutes and 23.16 seconds, whereas, Irina Novikova settled for fifth place after he ended his swim in a time of 2 minutes and 23.95 seconds. Moreover, Korea’s Yeon Back Su finished sixth in a time of 2 minutes and 25.56 seconds and Sweden’s Elin Martensson claimed seventh place honours in a time of 2 minutes and 27.51 seconds.
Meanwhile, the Men’s 200m back-stroke title was clinched by Chad Le Clos with a stunning mark of 1 minute and 54.33 seconds. Brazil’s Leornardo Fim produced an impressive splash and won silver medal by posting a matchless time of 1 minute and 54.43 seconds. Lukas Rauftlin of Switzerland settled for bronze title with a time of 1 minute and 56.08 seconds.
The arena produced some other interesting results in the respective race as Mattias Carlsson went on to secure fourth position in a time of 1 minute and 57.78 seconds. Great Britain’s David Gregory picked fifth spot with a mark of 1 minute and 58.35 seconds, whereas, Axel Pettersson of Columbia claimed sixth position as he finished his swim in 2 minutes and 01.07 seconds.
Last, but not the least, Lavrans Solli of Norway picked seventh spot with a time of 2 minutes and 01.28 seconds. The versatile swims of all athletes impressed Stockholm’s arena and the toppers were awarded accolades and cash prizes after the end of the session.
