Jiri Vesely, Robin Kern qualify for the Boys’ Singles third round – Wimbledon Championships 2011
Jiri Vesely tore up the script at the Wimbledon Championships 2011 and had few troubles, beating American Alexios Halebian in the second round of Wimbledon Championships. He silenced the court and triumphed 6-4, 6-4 in one hour
and fourteen minutes.
In the early exchanges it was the American who forced the issue first, showing feather-like touch and trying to bring his Czech opponent towards the net. However, the difference in the class became palpable as Vesely upped the
gears, winning the first set in just 34 minutes.
After losing the opener, Halebian started to show signs of waning enthusiasm as a catalogue of errors, including a forehand wide, gave the top-seeded a break in the tenth game to lead the second set with a similar score.
The Czech pro finished off the match, scoring 84 percent of points on his first serve and 59 percent of points on his second serve respectively. Moreover, he scored twenty eight winners and four aces while committing just two double
faults and fourteen unforced errors.
Vesely now moves on into the third round of the tournament, where he will meet fifteenth-seeded Liam Broady of Great Britain.
Also, Robin Kern of Germany ousted Andrew Whittington of Australia with a 6-4, 6-4 score to reach the third round of Wimbledon Championships, being played at the All England Tennis Club.
The German player suffered an unexpected trouncing in the sixth game of the first set, with the Austrian striking the ball authoritatively and cleanly.  But the sweet hitting could not last longer and Kern started to assert himself,
winning the opener in just 28 minutes.
As the second set unfolded, Kern started off great, standing well and picking off the Australian’s idiosyncratic shots with ease. The German player stormed through the second set, breaking the Australian in the tenth game and sealing
his second win to reach the third round.
Kern finished off the match with five aces and twenty three winners. Furthermore, he won a whopping 100 percent on his first serve, 78 percent on his second serve and 34 percent of points return.
The German player now marches on into the third round where he will meet Filip Horansky of Slovakia.
