Jittery Tseng continues lacklustre stint as she falters at Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia 2012

Current world number one Yani Tseng continued her jittery form at the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia 2012 as she shot an overall 289 to tie for 49th, in yet another demonstration of her
unpredictable performance.
Tseng was regarded as one of the hot favourites for the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) tournament, held at Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club, but her performance was way below
average as she got off to a devastating start that saw her shoot a 78 in the opening round on Thursday.
A woeful start was enough to shatter Tseng’ confidence and she kept faltering on most of the holes in the next three rounds.
The first round saw her card four bogeys, three double bogeys and just three birdies.
Although she tried to regain her composure in the third round by posting a 68, other players made the most of Tseng’s poor start, boosting their positions early on the leaderboard.
Tseng, who belongs to Taiwan and enjoyed a massive crowd support at Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club, continued her lacklustre performance in the final round on Sunday as she carded a 71—something
that further dented her position.
The world number one opened the fourth round with a bogey as she mishandled the ball on the greens missing an easy par-putt.   She then parred the next seven holes.
On the back nine, one bogey and one double bogey took a further toll on Tseng’s position, although she reeled off back-to-back birdies on the 12th and 13th, and on the
17th and 18th hole.
Commentators said that the Taiwanese star was pretty confident before the tournament and had expressed her willingness to end her lacklustre stint, but she let down her fans by proving once
again that she is still going through rough times in her pro career.
Tseng made a good start in the 2012 season as she won three tournaments early in the year, but she has done worse than average in the recent tournaments, facing big-margin losses.
South Korean Inbee Park proved her mettle once again as she shot a 269 to win the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia 2012.
